THE HUMBLE PETITION of the undersigned Chinese and European residents in the Colony of Hong Kong.
SHEWETH that:-
Keung Tsze Pan was tried for the murder of a woman Cheung Sau Lin at the Sessions of the Supreme Court held on the 17th, 18th and 19th days of September 1934, found guilty of murder, and sentenced to death.
He is a native of Ku So Village, Po On District in the Province of Kwongtung in the Republic of China, aged 27 years.
He married the deceased woman, and in the 12th moon of the 18th year of the Republic (December - January 1930) she was received by his mother and members of the family into the family house in Ku So Village, with all due and proper ceremonies and observances, and was introduced to the near relatives of the said Keung Tsze Pan as his wife, and thereafter was accepted and recognised as such,
He lived with the deceased woman until early in 1934, when he went to Canton to study at the Shan (Sun) Chiu Wui Bible School at Fong Chuen.
The deceased woman bore two children to the said Keung Tsze Pan, one born on the 10th of September 1932 and the other on the 18th of December 1933.
The said Keung Tsze Pan returned to Hong Kong from Canton for the Summer vacation.
During the absence of the said Keung Tsze Pan in Canton, the deceased woman met one Im Chun and lived with the said Im Chun for two months prior to the 21st day of July 1934 the date of the crime.
On the return of the said Keung Tsze Pan to Hong Kong he visited the premises where his wife, the deceased woman, was living with Im Chun and attempted to induce Im Chun to separate from the deceased woman, in which attempt he was unsuccessful.
In the early morning of the 21st of July 1934 the said Keung Tsze Pan visited the premises where the said Im Chun and the deceased woman were, and found them together naked. He, being gravely and suddenly provoked, killed them both.
Keung Sau, the eldest brother of the said Keung Tsze Pan, gave evidence on the last day of the trial as to the reception of the deceased woman into the family house at Ku So Village as the wife of the said Keung Tsze Pan and the ceremonies then observed.
